COMMUNITY SERVICE

KAPPA ALPHA PSI FRATERNITY, INCORPORATED is known for extensive community involvement. We give of our energy and resources to support, inspire and lead. Examples of our involvement are as follows:

1. GUIDE RIGHT is a program for the educational and occupational guidance of youth, primarily inspirational and informational in character. Its reach extends to high schools and colleges alike. In the latter, giving due attention to the needs of undergraduate Brothers. The Breakfast Klub, held monthly at a local middle school is our primary Guide Right involvement.

Conceived in 1922 by Leon W. Stewart, and suggested at the twelfth Grand Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi, Guide Right became the Fraternity's National Service Program. Jesse Jerome Peters, later to become the eighth Grand Polemarch, was chairman of the committee, during the administration of W. Ellis Stewart as Grand Polemarch.

2. SOCIAL ACTION provides a means for the membership to have direct impact upon important issues of the day.

Noteworthy examples of our Social Action include voter registration, the Prostate Cancer Awareness Campaign [featuring cancer survivor Harry Belafonte as Keynote speaker], Fellowship Prayer Breakfast/Food Drive, Kappa Toys for Kids, and legislative petition drives.
